For three generations, Kindermusik has helped millions of children around the world build a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning. We are pleased to announce a partnership with one of Chicago's most respected early childhood music educators, Leah Egan. Kindermusik with Miss Leah is an exciting way to engage your child in the world of music and movement. Classes are held on Friday and Saturday mornings at Windy City Performs Studio A (5340 West Lawrence Ave, Chicago, IL 60630).

WINTER - SPRING 2018 SESSION IS NOW ENROLLING!

CLASSES BEGIN JANUARY 25/26

See full class descriptions here:

VILLAGE/FOUNDATIONS CLASS: Get ready to sing, play, and move with your little one in this high-energy music class designed to be just right for very young children. This Kindermusik curriculum focuses on your child’s beginning movement, helping to build the muscles your baby and young toddler needs to crawl, walk, run, and climb; and on vocal development, helping to nurture your child’s speaking and singing voice. With a mix of both parent-child joint activities and child-focused activities, you’ll be able to join right in on all the singing and dancing while also getting the chance to observe how your child learns on his or her own. Embark on Kindermusik’s fun exploration of singing, swaying, laughing, and playing through Sing & Play, a just-right mix of early-childhood vocal play and language development, together time, and music and movement activities.

Two themes…

(1) Mama Goose: Nursery rhymes endure for a reason. They’re quirky, rhymey, and memorable–and are also magical for speech and language development, as they work to “wire” the brain for communication before speech even begins! What bliss to share something with your child that your parents shared with you–or better yet, to learn and share one for the very first time!  Mama Goose Home Materials include Hickory Dickory Dock board book and Home CD

(2) Music Makes My Day: If you think about it, your day-to-day routine is a lot like a piece of music. Ups, downs, repetitions, patterns, fast parts, slow parts, and lots (and lots) of improvising! Music Makes My Day focuses on daily rituals and parts of the day, and gets you thinking about anticipation, improvisation, singing, instruments, new rituals, and other ways to make your same-old routine fun and musical. Music Makes My Day Home Materials include: Rhythm of My Day board book, Home CD and Baby Maraca

IMPORTANT REGISTRATION NOTE:  We have recently moved all of our patron services to a new portal called ArtsPeople, which will allow our families to buy tickets, register for classes, make donations, and volunteer through one site: Arts People.  We imported all of our current families to the new system; if it is your first time using Arts People, you may need to verify your account and reset your password through a quick and easy email veriification link, or, if your email address is not in our system you will need to create a quick account to proceed.

OUR TIME / LEVEL 2:  Level 2 class encourages toddlers to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control, and communications skills. Singing, imitating sounds, rhyming, and object identification foster language skills, while creative movement to various musical “moods” develops a sense of balance, timing, and spatial awareness. Listening and turn-taking encourage blossoming social skills. Our Time reflects the emotional foundations of school readiness and the latest research on music and early childhood development. Our Time is a unique opportunity for parent and child to interact and learn together in an unhurried and joyful manner.

Fiddle-dee-dee for children fifteen months to four years old— We’ll meet many animal characters in our books, activities, and songs—each specifically chosen for a toddler’s emerging interests and physical skills. With silly, bumpy lap bounces we’ll help toddlers develop rhythm while further developing their ever-emerging language skills. With a special stringed instrument emphasis in the music from class, parents can bring home the violin, cello, and orchestra sounds to help their toddlers stay happy and engaged learners at home, too.
